Speech and language evaluations:
What to expect

If your child is in need of a speech and language evaluation, we will set up an evaluation time that works for you and your child. Therapists use a variety of formal and informal assessment tools including developmental history, observation, language sample, oral motor examination, and standardized tests to obtain a comprehensive picture of your child’s speech and language skills and will create a customized treatment plan with goals specific to your child’s needs. An evaluation report can take up to two weeks to prepare and your child’s therapist will follow up with you to discuss the results of the evaluation and make recommendations for your child.  You will receive a copy of your child’s detailed evaluation report and treatment plan from your child’s therapist.  Goals and treatment plans are specific and measurable so that your child’s progress can be tracked. Communication is highly important to us so please be sure to reach out to your child’s therapist with any questions or concerns.
